J. C. Barefoot

Coats, NC: Mr. J. C. Barefoot, age 83, of E. South Street, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2023 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. Memorial Services will be 11:00AM, December 2, 2023 at Benson Grove Baptist Church in Benson. Rev. Billy Cashwell will officiate.

Mr. Barefoot was born on December 1, 1939 in Sampson County to the late Burgess Allen and Dorese Westbrook Barefoot. He was preceded in death by his sons, Jimmy Barefoot, Donald Barefoot, and David Barefoot; sisters, Shirley Trent and Lynn Williams. Mr. Barefoot was a professional truck driver and retired from Robert Langdon Trucking. He was a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Peggy Barbour Barefoot; children, Ricky Stevens and wife, Mary Ellen of Clayton, Chuck Regan of Coats, Melanie Massengill and husband, Linwood of Four Oaks, Micheal Barefoot and wife, Melissa of Winston-Salem; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Blackmon of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service and other times at the home of Melanie and Linwood Massengill, 1926 Hockaday Road Four Oaks, NC 27524.
