J. Donald Putnam

Smithfield, NC: Mr. J. Donald Putnam, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at his residence.  Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.  Rev. Brian Beasley will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield, NC.                   Mr. Putnam was born on February 2, 1941 in Johnston County to the late John Preston and Sarah Johnson Putnam.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Alexandra Putnam, brothers, John Douglas and Jimmy Ray Putnam and a sister, Elizabeth P. Blake.  Mr. Putnam retired from the North Carolina Department of Correction and was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.                  Surviving include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Hardee Putnam; son, Stephen C. Putnam; daughters, Clara F. Putnam and Dana C. Lee; grandchildren, Shay Putnam and Daphne Misakian; brothers, Marshall Putnam and David Putnam; several nieces and nephews.                           The family will receive friends 1:30PM-2:45PM, Saturday, September 5, 2020 prior to the service at Pisgah Baptist Church and other times at the home.             Flowers are welcomed, however, memorials may be made to Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577 or to The Salvation Army in Smithfield, NC.             In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.             Arrangements by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
