Jackie Benson

Dunn, NC: Mr. Jackie LaVern Benson, age 69, of 1501 N. Ellis Avenue went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, following several years of illness. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Brother Mack Fowler.   A Private Burial service will be at Montlawn Cemetery in Raleigh. Mr. Benson was born October 11, 1943 to the late Ben Lester and Leah Ogburn Benson.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Scallon and nephew, Larry Aiken. Mr. Benson grew up in Garner and spent most of his life in the McGee’s Crossroads area and lived the last years in Dunn.  He was an electrical supplies salesman and owned Benson Enterprises. Mr. Benson was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.  Being an entrepreneur, Jackie and longtime friend, Robert Holding, developed Shadow Lakes subdivision when subdivisions didn’t exist in this rural area.  He developed other communities as well.  Surviving are wife, Barbara McCabe Benson; Children, Carla Jacklyn Benson of Meadow, Deanna Turlington Kleiss and husband, Mark, of Raleigh, Mike Langley and wife, Janet, of Coats, and Eric Langley and wife, Sharon, of Dunn; Brother, Jimmy Benson of Knightdale; Nephew, Walter Aiken and wife, Johanna, of Cary; and Nieces, Teresa Figaroa and husband, Peter, of Knightdale and Tamara Wicker and husband, Mike, of Pinehurst.
