Jackie Blackmon Carey

Benson, NC: Mrs. Jackie Lynette Blackmon Carey, age 86, of 712 Dogeye Road, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Service will be held-2:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2022  at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton Grove, NC.  

Mrs. Carey was born on May 3, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Jasper Riley and Cassie Annie Lee Blackmon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gilbert Parker; brothers, J.R. Blackmon, Jr., Newby Blackmon, Homer Blackmon, and Billy Blackmon; and sisters, Rena Blackmon Wood, Margaret Blackmon Stanford, and Deane Blackmon Evans. She was in the Class of 1954 at Four Oaks High School and went on to cosmetology school and worked for many years prior to retirement. She was a member of Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church and attended both Trinity Baptist Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend.  

Surviving include her husband of 48 years, Walter J. Carey; daughter, Lynn Carey Stewart and husband, Tommy; grandson, Parker Joseph Strickland; daughter-in-law, Kim Parker; step-daughter, Stephanie Van Dresar and husband, David; step-son, Charles B. Carey; step-grandchildren, Krystal D. Van Dreser, Kyle J. Van Dresar, and Madison Stewart; step-great granddaughter, Lynzey; and several nieces and nephews.  

The Family will receive friends immediately following the service in Drexel Hall on the church grounds and other times at the home.
