Four Oaks: Mr. James Clifton “Jim” Blackman, age 76, of 802 East Stanley Street died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00PM Friday at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.
Mr. Blackman was born December 14, 1935 in Johnston County to the late John A. and Mettie Clifton Blackman. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dakoda Lee Johnson. Mr. Blackman served in the U. S. Army and was a staff engineer with the N. C. Department of Transportation. Mr. Blackmon owned and operated the Old Time Music Store in Garner, was an avid guitarist and luthier. He was a member of Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church and attended Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors are Wife, Deborah Thompson Blackman; Daughter, Kimberly Blackman Barefoot of Raleigh; Son & Daughter-in-Law, James Mark and Bridget Blackman of Willow Spring; Step-son, Jonathan Johnson of Willow Spring; Grandchildren, Daire Barefoot, Dace Barefoot, Ky Barefoot, and Mitchell Lamm; and Brothers, John O. Blackman of Altamonte Springs, FL and Charles H. Blackman of Halifax, VA.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday.
