James McGuire

Kingsport, TN:  Dr. James Eldridge McGuire was born November 12, 1934 in Sweetwater, Tennessee and departed this life on Friday, September 27, 2013, in Benson, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Monday, September 30, 2013, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport, TN.  Rev. Edward James Mills III will officiate.  Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.     Dr. McGuire was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean McGuire.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Isabel McGuire; a son, Michale Embree McGuire; and a brother, J. Nicholas McGuire, Sr.  Jim was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kingsport, TN.  He loved his church.  Jim graduated from Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater, TN, Tennessee Wesleyan College, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, and University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis, TN.  He was an OBGYN with his OBGYN partner and friend, Dr. John Moore, until retirement.     Jim is survived by his wife, Ann A. McGuire of Benson; children, James E. McGuire, Jr. (Cindy) and Louise McGuire Campbell (Mark) of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, James (Jay) McGuire, Kathleen and Margaret McGuire, Sara and Michael Campbell; stepdaughter and grandchildren, Sheryl Anne McDaniel (Scott), Justin McDaniel, Tyler McDaniel, Stephanie Anne (Sami) McDaniel of Benson, NC; sister-in-law, Dr. Jane Qualls McGuire; niece, Staci McGuire (John) Snyder; great-niece, Evie Snyder; and nephew, Dr. J. Nicholas McGuire, Jr.    The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Monday prior to the service.     In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 161 East Ravine, Kinsgsport, TN  37660.     Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.hamlettdobson.com.
