Four Oaks, NC: Mr. James Edward “Jimmy” Smith, age 76, of 785 Berea Church Road, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at his home. A Private Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM- Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Benson Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Billy Cashwell and Mr. Barry Barbour will officiate. The service will be live streamed at www.bensongrovebaptist.org. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born on July 21, 1944 in Harnett County to the late Coley Bless and Odie Mae Dixon Smith. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lavern Smith, J.C. Smith, and Benny Smith, sister, Becky Beasley and Kitty Gilbert. Mr. Smith was a retired heavy equipment operator with Smith Brothers, and Coates Grading and Hauling. He also was a retired diesel mechanic with Winn Dixie. Mr. Smith was a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving include his wife of 32 years, Shirley Revels Smith; children, Michelle Beasley, Kimberly Young and husband, Steven, Freddie Stuart and wife, Tina and Oscar Lopez and wife, Alicia; grandchildren, Patrick Maynard, Mason Young, Kaitlyn Young, Jessica Norris, Jennifer Stuart, Chrissy Morris, Amber McNeill, Evuardo Cortez; great-grandson, Jonathan Maynard; sister, Judy Templeton; several nieces and nephews and he loved and was loved by many.
Mr. Smith will be available for viewing and you will be able to sign the register book from 12:00PM-5:00PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. The family will not be present during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
In accordance with the current NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash and wear a face covering. A mask is required for the services.
