James Willard Wheeler

Benson, NC: Mr. James Willard Wheeler, age 83, of Five Points Road, passed away on June 25, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM-Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Wheeler Family Cemetery in Benson, NC. Revs. Doug Abel and Scott Johnson will officiate.

Mr. Wheeler was born on November 16, 1939 in Johnston County to the late James Woodrow and Eva Dunn Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Wheeler; son, Woody Ray Wheeler; sisters, Melba Grey Lee and Shirley Wheeler Wood. Mr. Wheeler was a farmer and National Guard veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially rabbit hunting and attended Stones Creek Advent Christian Church. Mr. Wheeler enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Boss and Marley.

Surviving include his wife of 62 years, Peggy O’Neal Wheeler; children, James Michael Wheeler and wife, Tonya, Jeffrey Wayne Wheeler and wife, Janice; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
