James "J.W." Coats

Angier, NC:  Mr. James William “J.W.” Coats, age 74, of 217 Clayton Road died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Service will be 3:00PM Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Dr. Paul Rowland and Rev. Duane Hix.  Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. Mr. Coats was born December 3, 1938 in Johnston County to the late Lester D. and Bettie Lassiter Coats. He retired as a mason in home construction.  Mr. Coats was a member and an Elder of Berea Presbyterian Church where he served as the church treasurer and in many other capacities.  He was a member of West Johnston Fire Department and served as its chaplain. Surviving include his wife, Joyce Clayton Coats; Sisters, Lorene Barbour of Benson and Melody Watkins of Wake Forest; Brothers, Lester D. Coates, Jr. of Raleigh and Fred L. Coates of Wendell; and Several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
