Janet Brooks Martin

Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Janet Brooks Martin, age 51, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 6:00PM, Monday, January 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Four Oaks, NC.  A Graveside Service will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island, NC.  Rev. John I. Norman, Jr., will officiate.

Janet was born on March 19, 1971 in Carteret County, NC to Joan Wade Brooks of Harkers Island, NC and the late Pat Brooks, Sr. She was a registered nurse for 25 years, most recently working with Johnston Hematology and Oncology in Smithfield, NC.  Janet attended First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, NC. 

Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband of 24 years, Allen Martin; children, Ben Martin and Caroline Martin; all of Four Oaks, NC; brother, Pat Brooks, Jr., of Harkers Island, NC; nephew, David Brooks, niece, Rebecca Brooks Mann (Chad) of Harkers Island, NC; several special aunts and uncles, a soul sister, Janet "Fluff" McGhee of Uniontown, OH, and dogs, Max and Finley.

The family will receive friends following the funeral service on Monday evening in the fellowship hall at the First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, NC, and following the graveside service on Tuesday on Harkers Island, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Johnston Health Foundation Angel Fund For Cancer Patients, PO Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Russell Anderson and staff for their loving care shown to Janet during her battle with cancer.
