Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Janice Mae Wise Smith, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-6:45PM, Monday, June 21, 2021, with Funeral Services following at 7:00PM at Wilson’s Mills Church of God, Clayton, NC. Graveside Services will be 11:00AM-Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Hills of The Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield, NC. Bishop Larry Hunt and Bishop Clyde Hunt will officiate.

Mrs. Smith was born on September 10,1938 in Sampson County to the late Purdy Butner and Margaret Smith Wise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lewis Smith, son, David Dalton Smith and brothers, Norman Wise and Bob Wise. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and loved her God, family, cooking and flowers. She was known by others for her giving heart, and was a member of Wilson’s Mills Church of God, Clayton, NC.

Surviving include children, Robert Lewis Smith and wife, Valerie; and Renee Smith Tant and husband, Jimmy; daughter-in-law, Nina Smith; grandchildren, Cumi Michelle Stevens and husband, Jeff, Samantha Batton and husband, Joe, Amber Austin and husband, David, Tamara McDaris and husband, Matt, Derek Smith, Lauren Hodge and husband, Josh, Ariel Smith and Ashley, Brittney Tant, and Tyler Tant; great-grandchildren, Christina Stevens, Tiffany Stevens, Dustin Carey, Joe Carey, Ava Austin, Connor Smith, Gracie McDaris, Khalees McDaris, Braylon Hodge; great-grandchildren, DeAnthony Bell, Ky’ree Bell; brothers, John Wise and wife, Eva, Richard Wise and wife, Patty, James Wise and wife, Nancy, and Bruce Wise; sister, Lillie Howard and husband, Frank Hughes; several nieces and nephews.
