Benson, NC: Mr. Jerry Brenton McLamb, age 79, of W. Main Street, died Monday, January 27, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. David Brantley.
Mr. McLamb was born in Harnett County to the late Tennyson Utley and Georgia Creech McLamb. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Mr. McLamb served as the Mayor of the Town of Benson from 2005-2007 and was a charter member of the Benson Rescue Squad. He was also a former Benson Police officer and a volunteer Johnston County Sheriff Deputy. Mr. McLamb was a member of Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving include wife of 50 years, Esther Norris McLamb; children, Donald Earnest and wife, Ann of Four Oaks, Katie Faircloth and husband, Ronnie of Erwin; grandchildren, Necah Rose and husband, Jack, Tabitha Monds and husband, Allen, Belinda Mason, Don Earnest and wife, Lauren; great-granddaughters, Kate Clanton and Alaina Monds; great-great granddaughter, Violet Clanton; brothers, Johnny C. McLamb and wife, Joyce of Dunn; Jan McLamb and wife, Sharon of Benson; several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM-1:30PM, Saturday, February 1, 2020 prior to the funeral service at Oliver's Grove Baptist Church in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Oliver’s Grove Baptist Church, 8715 US Hwy 301, South Four Oaks, NC 27524.
