Jessie Myrline Watson

August 27, 1925 — January 8, 2017

Benson, NC:  Mrs. Jessie Myrline Watson, age 91, of 41 West Watson Road died peacefully at SECU Hospice House on Sunday, January 8, 2017, surrounded by her family.  Funeral Service will be 2:00PM Wednesday at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, Willow Spring.  Officiating will be Reverend Carole McCartney.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.             Mrs. Watson was born August 27, 1925 in Chatham County to the late James Franklin and Nannie Easom Stephenson.  She married Charlie Currin Watson on March 22, 1943 in Biloxi, Mississippi where he was stationed in the army.  They were married 67 years and enjoyed traveling, fishing, country and gospel music, and church and community activities.             Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and a farmer, but her priority in life was raising her children and grandchildren in a Christian home.  She was a charter member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities over the years.  She was active in the Pleasant Grove community, participating with the Coats Museum, local fun club, homemakers extension club, and the women of the church.  Before her decline in health, Mrs. Watson was a "taxi driver," taking friends and family members to appointments, visiting the sick, and filling her car with love and laughter.             She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie Watson, in 2008, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.                Surviving include her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Larry Norris, Brenda and Bobby Talton, Glenda and Lee Talton, and Joy Watson; sisters-in-law, Marie Watson and Dorothy Page; 9 grandchildren, Deborah Leigh Norris, Charles Anthony Norris & wife, Laura Lindsey, Elizabeth Cheryl Brooks Stephenson, Cindy Renee Brooks Dollar & husband, Kevin, Michelle Nanette McGee Johnson & husband, Jeremy, Monica Janette McGee Chapman & husband, Jeremy, John Justin King, Jordan Franklin King, and Jessie Katlyn King; 4 step grandchildren, Rhonda Allen, Jason Talton, Truman Talton, and Jennifer Sawyer; 10 great grandchildren, Justin Christopher Eldereth, Dustin Calvin Currin Eldreth, Janna Elizabeth Stephenson, Kaylee Johnson, Landon Cole Johnson, Blake Anthony Chapman, Faith Alene Chapman, Leah Norris, Julianne Iris Thornburg, and Lyle Norris; 6 step great grandchildren, Dalton Hayes, Dylan Hayes, Darbie Hayes, Alyssa Talton Wood, Heaven Talton, and Von Michael Talton; and one step great great granddaughter, Emily Wood; and many nieces & nephews.             Mrs. Watson was an avid reader and journalist.  She sent cards to friends and family for all life events and always shared her memories with them.  She enjoyed bird watching, puzzling, and crocheting.  She loved for her grandchildren to visit and always had snacks and candy to treat them.  Mrs. Watson crocheted and kept her family and friends warm with hats, scarves, and blankets.  While she loved her family to visit for family celebrations and fellowship, she also loved her peace and quiet.  When everyone left, she would say "Glory go with you and peace left behind."             The family will receive visitors at 41 West Watson Road, Benson, NC.             The family would like to thank UNC Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit in Chapel Hill and SECU Hospice House in Smithfield for their loving care and comfort provided to her and her family in her final days.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1459 White Memorial Road, Willow Spring, NC  27592 or SECU Hospice House, P.
