John David Blackmon

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. John David Blackmon, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at UNC Rex Health Care in Raleigh, NC. Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Monday, October 11, 2021 at Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, Four Oaks NC. Rev. Rodney Raby, Rev. Rodney Brittain and Mr. Rodney Barbour will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Blackmon was born on November 26, 1948 in Johnston County, NC to the late John Jesse and Victoria Lee Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Finn Leveris, sister, Vera Bizzell, and brothers, Melvin Ray Blackmon, Billy Blackmon, and Bobby Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon retired from South River Electric Company in Dunn, NC, and was also Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service. Following retirement, he was also a licensed insurance agent and a full-time hunter. He was a member of Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, Four Oaks, NC.

Surviving include his wife of 14 years, Frances Ellis Blackmon; children, Michael Blackmon, and Michelle Blackmon Leveris and husband, Aaron; grandchildren, Ansley Blackmon, Grant Blackmon, Stacy Kate Leveris, Josie Gray Leveris and Preston Banks Leveris; sisters, Alice Stevens, Ruby Creech, Wilma Stewart and Peggy Dunn; step-children, Jennifer P. Jones and husband, Jon, and Jim Philyaw; step-grandchildren, Ben Jones and Noah Jones; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the Oak Ridge Hunt Club, 1804 Ferrell Meadows Drive, Zebulon, NC 27597.
