John Patrick Wilkins, Jr.

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. John Patrick Wilkins, Jr., age 85, of Wilkins-Oneal Road, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Sherwood Lassiter.

Mr. Wilkins was born on February 12, 1936 in Johnston County to the late John Patrick, Sr. and Sarah Magdalene Lawhorn Wilkins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a retired from Johnston County Hams after 27 years and was a farmer. He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Four Oaks.

Surviving include his wife of 61 years, Doris K. Wilkins; children, Cheri Lynne Scott, John Patrick Wilkins, III all of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Kellie Lynne Soddy and husband, Dustin of Liberty and Katina Caro and fiancé, Keith of Erwin; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Peeples and Wyatt Soddy; god-child, Melody Kay Snow of Lexington; sisters, Martha Jean Wilkins of Four Oaks; Dorothy Wood and husband, Charles of Pine Level; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilkins will be available for viewing and you may sign the register book from 1:00PM-5:00PM, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks. The family will not be present during this time.

In lieu of flowers; however, memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church c/o Cecil Lee 1758 Hockaday Road Four Oaks, NC 27524 or to the Free Will Baptist Church Children’s Home, P.O. Box 249 Middlesex, NC 27557.

In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings are not required, but are kindly recommended for all services.
