Joyce Turner

Joyce Devine Parrish Turner, age 86, of Dunn, NC passed peacefully into her eternal heavenly home on August 2, 2018.  Joyce was born on February 3, 1932 to Aldridge and Maxine Parrish of Coats, NC.  She was the oldest of four daughters. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Raymond D. Turner, her granddaughter, Katie Grace Tricoli and a sister, Sadie Frances Melvin. Joyce’s love and devotion to her family was first and foremost in her life. She especially loved spending time with her three grandchildren and has left with them many cherished memories. They lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Sugar” because of her sweet and kind spirit. Joyce’s 30 year career as a Secretary and Receptionist with Machine & Welding Co. and Machine & Welding Supply, Co. brought many wonderful friends into her life which she held closely in her heart after her retirement in 1995. As the Great-Granddaughter of the founder of Coats, NC, James T. Coats, her passion over the last eighteen years was reconnecting and studying the history of her ancestors and the town. Joyce’s involvement in the planning and building of the Coats Museum brought her much pride and joy. In 2010 she was presented with the Ambassador of the Year Award by Coats Area Chamber of Commerce. She always enjoyed participating in the town’s celebrations and parades. Joyce will forever be remembered by her proclaimed faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her loving  personality and kindness towards others was a true testimony to her Christian Life. Survivors include her children, Joy Turner Tricoli, (John III) of Orlando, Florida.  Raymond D. Turner, Jr., (Deborah) of Benson, N.C. Three grandchildren, Maria Parrish Armstrong, (Matthew), John T.Tricoli IV and Anna E. Tricoli, all residing in Orlando, Florida. Sisters, Patricia Nordan of Alabama and Bettie Turlington of Franklin, NC. And many beloved nieces and nephews.  A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 11,  at 11:00 am at Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats, NC.  Entombment to follow Service at Turner Family Cemetery, Dunn, NC.  The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, August 10, at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC.  Flowers are welcomed, however memorials made be made to the Coats Museum, P.O.
