Benson, NC: Mrs. Julia Young Blackman, age 90, of Benson died Thursday. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Curtiss Tatum and Michael Preddy. Burial will follow in the Hodges Chapel Church cemetery.
Mrs. Blackman was born on November 23, 1924 in Johnston County to the late Claude and Dora Weaver Young. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Vernon Blackman, Sr.; sisters, Lucy Wheeler, Angelene Hodges and Ruth King; and brother, Claude Young, Jr. Mrs. Blackman was a homemaker and farmer.
Surviving are daughter & special friend, Julia Ann Johnson & David Hass of Benson; son & daughter-in-law, George Vernon Blackman, Jr. & Hilda of Benson; four grandsons, Joseph Johnson, Jr., George Blackman, III, Justice Blackman, and Matthew Blackman; great grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Justin Blackman, Dillon Blackman Jacob Blackman, Jay Blackman, Larissa Johnson and Brinlee Sellers; sisters, Gladys Barefoot of Dunn, and Claudette Hall of Raleigh; brother, Johnny Young of Benson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 3:00PM to 6:00PM Saturday and other times at the home of Julia Ann Johnson, 1562 NC Hwy 242 North, Benson, NC.
