Karl "Sandy" Lee, Jr.

March 25, 1951 — April 22, 2016

Four Oaks,  NC:  Mr. Karl Sanford "Sandy" Lee, Jr. age 65 of 204 Byrd Street passed away Friday at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield.  Funeral service will be 2:00PM-Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Four Oaks.  Burial will follow in Four Oaks Cemetery.  Officiating will be Rev. John Norman.             Sandy  was born on March 25, 1951 in Bremen, GA to the late Karl Sanford, Sr. and Inez Sertain Lee.  He was preceded in death by brother, Steven Lee, nephew, Jeremiah Lee and a very special friend, Samantha Karger.  He enjoyed basketball and played on the 1974 NAIA championship team at West Georgia College. Sandy coached civitan ball, drag raced, was an avid motorcycle rider with his friends and wrestled for charity events.  Mr. Lee owned and operated Lee and Sons' Nursery for over 40 years.  Sandy also served on the Four Oaks Town Council for 28 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Sandy was a devoted and proud father and grandfather who always supported his children and grandchildren in all of their endeavors.  He was a friend to all and loved to joke with his family and friends.  Sandy lived life to the fullest.              Surviving are wife of 43 years, Jan Caldwell Lee; daughter, Shannon Lee of Four Oaks; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Karen Lee of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Sophia Pineda, Daniel Pineda, and Benjamin Lee all of Four Oaks; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Lee and Russell Dickey of GA and brother, Michael Lee of Four Oaks; many nieces, nephews and cousins.             The family will receive friends 5:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks and other times at the home.      Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may made to First Baptist Church of Four Oaks, PO Box 717, Four Oaks, NC 27524 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1544, Smithfield, NC 27577.      The family wishes to thank the staff of  Johnston Oncology Associates for their loving care given to Sandy.
