Kathy Moore

Ms. Kathy Jean Moore, age 66, of 106 Circle Drive died Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Durham.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2018 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson.  Officiating will be Rev. Al Hocutt.              Ms. Moore was born February 16, 1952 in New Jersey to the late Walter Robert and Lillian Liebau Moore. She received her masters' degree from East Carolina University and her law degree from Samford University in Alabama. Ms. Moore was a retired attorney, serving as the assistant district attorney in Bessemer City, Alabama. She taught classes at the Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC and Sampson Community College in Clinton, NC. Ms. Moore loved and adopted animals and was also a very talented painter, clay sculptor and jewelry maker.             Surviving include sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Terry Hicks of Benson and Sandra and Bob Summers of Charlotte; nieces and nephews, Christopher Hicks and wife, Warren, Patrick Summers, Allison Holland and husband, Seth, and Kristine Summers and fiancée, Joe Clarke; and great-niece, Margaret Douglas Hicks             The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service on Friday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.             In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Johnston County Animal Services, 115 Shelter Way, Smithfield, NC 27577 or Johnston County Arts Council, 1115 Outlet Center Drive, Smithfield, NC 27577.             Arrangements by Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.
