Kay Myron Massengill

Mr. Kay Myron Massengill, age 71, of 923 T-Bar Road, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 P.M.-Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Pastor Bill West will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.

Mr. Massengill was born in Johnston County to the late Lester Carlyle and Rena Johnson Massengill. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Jamie Massengill; grandson, Lucas Anakin Row; and brother, Billy Ray Massengill. Mr. Massengill retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army, where he served as a finance officer and achieved the rank of Sergeant prior to retirement. He went on to work with North Carolina Department of Revenue and retired after five years. He was a member of Hood’s Grove Baptist Church in Newton Grove, NC.

Surviving include his wife, Hattie Sue Massengill; daughters, Tonya Row and husband, Jeremiah of Benson and Jessica Stevens and husband, Shannon of Coats; son, Ray Massengill and wife, Kellie of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Erin, Jordan, LeeAnn, Britney, Brandon, Aidan, Grayson, and Lincoln; sisters, Louise Langdon and husband Steve and Judy McLamb and husband Donnie; brother, Lynwood Massengill and wife Denise; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.

In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings are not required, but are kindly recommended for all services.

Flowers are welcomed however, memorials can be made in his honor to American Legion Banner Post 109 at P.O. Box 153 Benson, NC 27504.
