Kitty Gilbert

Benson, NC: Mrs. Kitty Sue Smith Gilbert, age 73 of Benson died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Barbour’s Court in Smithfield. A private Service & Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.    Mrs. Gilbert was born February 28, 1940 in Harnett County to the late Coley & Odie Dixon Smith. She was also preceded in death by her Sister, Becky Beasley; and Brothers, J.C. Smith, Lavern Smith, and Bennie Smith. Mrs. Gilbert had retired after 25 years of service as the cafeteria manager at South Johnston High School, and was also a member of the Benson Grove Baptist Church.    Surviving include her Husband, Roy Gilbert; Son, Darren Gilbert of Benson; Daughter, Tammy G. Pope of Benson; Granddaughter, Lauren Pope; Brother, Jimmy Smith of Four Oaks, and Sister, Judy Templeton of El Paso, Texas; and several Nieces & Nephews.    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family at,  28 Gilbert Rd., Benson, NC 27504.
