Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Leonard Ransom Allen, Jr., age 73, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. The family will receive friends from 7:00PM-9:00PM-Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC. A Private Graveside Service will be held.
Mr. Allen was born on December 3, 1951 in Johnston County, NC to the late Leonard Ransom Allen, Sr, and Ethelene McCabe Allen. Growing up as a child, Ransom attended Burnell Baptist Church, and worked with his siblings on the family farm. Before he succumbed to a long duration of mental illness, Ransom became a welder just out of high school. He led a team that constructed many of the bridges we drive on and along I-40 from here to West Virginia. Not long after, he started his own business known as Allen’s Welding and Fabrication. His small stature lent him the ability to crawl in and out of the ceiling construction of the Chicopee Plant during its erection. He was such a nimble guy, and his family will always hold to the memories of him climbing pine trees with his bare hands and legs with no branches to hold to. He used this ability to be successful in putting up billboards alongside the interstate as well.
Survivors include his children, Michelle Bradley and husband, Michael, Mitchell Allen, and Melissa Allen; sisters, Patricia Allen Rogers, Dr. Barbara C. Allen, and a brother, Kevin Allen; grandchildren, Breanna Allen, and Trace Bradley; great-grandchildren, Riley and Colton Pearce.
Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center in Wilson, for providing the best care possible to our loved one, in his last years.
