Benson, NC: Mr. Leron Andrew Parrish, age 92, of 7524 Benson-Hardee Road died Friday, May 3, 2019 at his residence. Funeral Service will be held 3:00PM-Monday, May 6, 2019, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Bowden. Burial will follow in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier, NC.
Mr. Parrish was born on September 19, 1926 in Johnston County to the late Andrew Vester and Ada Elizabeth Dorman Parrish. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Louise "Polly" Smith Parrish; daughter, Norma Lee Parrish; and siblings, Royaline, Vernon, Adna, Eston, Berlon and Clelton. Mr. Parrish was a retired farmer and was a founding member of the West Johnston Fire Department, where he served as the first elected chief from 1964-1984. He also served on the Board of Directors and continued to serve as an active fireman until his death.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Bennie Pender of Benson, Delores Parrish of Apex and Julie and Patrick Burgess of Benson; grandchildren and spouse, Samantha Thornton and Kimberly and Chris Smith; great-grandchildren, Dominique Judkins, Shaunta Williams, Emauri Thornton, Emily Dominguez and Devin Smith; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
