Four Oaks: Mrs. Lila Cobb Adams, age 89, of 411 N. Church Street, died Wednesday at Johnston Health in Smithfield. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM-Sunday at First Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Burial will follow in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. John Norman.
Mrs. Adams was born on August 17, 1925 in Harnett County to the late Willis and Esther Adams Cobb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin H. Adams and a brother Algie Cobb. Mrs. Adams was a secretary for Nathan Upchurch Insurance Agency in Four Oaks and retired from Seymour Taylor Insurance Agency in Four Oaks. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time keeping all her grandchildren. Mrs. Adams was a member of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks where she served in many capacities.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Tommy Lassiter and Dianne & Price Heritage both of Four Oaks; grandchildren and spouses, Wynnette Strickland and Ricky Stanley, Kathrine and Bryant Aycock, Eric and Amanda Strickland, Tommy and Carmie Heritage, Chris and Wendy Heritage, and Travis and Connie Lassiter; great-grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie Kemp and Jimmy Stanley, Justin and Christina Kemp, Joshua Adams and Jessica Dale, Anthony Adams, Blade Strickland, Lela Strickland, Brent Turner, Caroline Heritage, Charlotte Heritage, Nicholas Heritage, Holland Heritage and Carson Gardner, great-great-grandsons, Dayson Kemp and Noah Dale; sisters, Clara Barbour of Benson and Ruth Upchurch of Coats; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church in Four Oaks, 6:00PM to 8:00 PM Saturday.
