Linda Shilt

May 16, 1950 — February 25, 2012

Linda Sue Shilt age 61, of Benson, NC, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Feb. 25th, 2012, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, Feb. 29th, 2012, in the Chapel of Central Baptist Church of Dunn, NC.  Officiating will be Rev. Tom Wagoner. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Dunn, NC.  Mrs. Shilt was a native of LeRoy, IL and the daughter of the late Rev. Jack and Juanita Christian. She went into nursing after high school, working and dedicating her life to caring for the needs of others. Her last place of employment was the Benson Area Medical Center. Linda will be remembered as someone who enjoyed the beach, the mountains, crocheting, collecting precious moment’s figurines and her love of lighthouses but most of all spending quality time with her family. She also enjoyed worshiping with her church family and participating in the church choir at Central Baptist Church of Dunn, NC.             Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Robert A. Shilt, of Benson, NC, her daughters Pamela Thornton and husband Wayne, of Clayton, NC; Gina S. Aiken and husband Mark, of Clayton, NC; brothers Gary Christian and wife Annie, of Cameron, IL; Mark Christian and wife Cathy, of Chesapeake, VA; sister Marsha Edgington and husband Dan, of Rock Island, IL; her four grandchildren, Allison, Lauryn, Hannah, and Kara.   The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.   In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations can be made to Central Baptist Church 6050 Plain View Hwy, Dunn, NC 28334 or to 3HC Hospice Service 723 S. 3rd Street, Smithfield, NC 27577
