Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Mae Elizabeth Cook Carpenter, age 79, of 1344 A. Packing Plant Road, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks, NC. Burial will follow in Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Grace Hargis will officiate.
Mrs. Carpenter was born on October 1, 1941 in Johnston County to the late Charlie Thomas and Elizabeth House Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Carpenter, son, Steven Randall Thompson, brothers, Charlie Reginald Cook, Thomas Jackson Cook and a sister, Clara Rachel Beasley. Mrs. Carpenter was a retired State Capital Police Officer in Raleigh, NC. Following retirement, she was a BLET Instructor at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC. Mrs. Carpenter not only raised her own children, but also helped raise many other children that she claimed as her own.
Surviving include her children, Elizabeth Marchell Raynor and husband, Ray; Joyce Hope Rojas and husband, Shorty; Amy Thompson Weston and husband, Bucky; Delores Bryan and husband, David; and Jennifer Carpenter Eason and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Ronnie Lee Allen, II., Danny Marshall Weston, Sarah Mae Weston Anita Wood, Dustin Thompson, and Tracy Bare; many great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Hope Carpenter; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM-Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC and other times at the home.
