Maria Guadalupe Martinez

June 23, 1941 — April 7, 2025

Angier

Its with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Guadalupe Martinez, who left us on April 7, 2025. A devoted and caring mother of nine, she was the heart and soul of our family, raising us with love, strength, and resilience. A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, on Monday, April 14, at Saint Bernadette Catholic Parish in Fuquay-Varina. Father Bill John Acosta-Escobar will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sandy Grove Cemetery in Angier.

As Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Maria lived her life with this promise in her heart, trusting in God’s strength and presence through all challenges.

Maria worked tirelessly to provide for her children and create a home filled with love, joy, and faith. Her ability to raise nine children with grace and perseverance is a testament to her boundless love and strength, just as Isaiah 40:31 says, "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

Her hobbies brought her immense joy, from tending to her garden to dancing, singing, and crocheting. She found peace in word search puzzles and always found time for her daily prayers. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she shared it generously with all those around her. In times of need, she found comfort in Psalm 23:1-4, which says, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul."

Maria touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and loving spirit. She taught us all the importance of family, faith, and the strength that comes from unconditional love. One of our fondest memories is how, every Sunday after church, she would take us to Church's Fried Chicken in San Antonio. It was always a time to bond, share laughter, and enjoy delicious food together.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her, especially her children, Jose Dolores Martinez, Aureliano Martinez, Martin Martinez, Jaime Martinez, Maria Martinez, Javier Martinez, Maria G. Rincon, Maria E. Martinez de Navarrete, Gerardo Muniz Rios, twenty six grandchildren, and twenty three great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride for her.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor.

Though she is no longer with us, her love and wisdom will forever guide us, and we will carry her memory in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Revelation 21:4 promises, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
