Lake Waccamaw NC: Miss Marval Emogene “Jean” Johnson, age 83, of 2312 Canal Cove Road and 2431 Elevation Road, Four Oaks died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow at Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield. Rev. Sommer Bower will officiate.
Miss Johnson was born March 27, 1930 in Johnston County to the late Jenkins & Zettie Allen Johnson. She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. Miss Johnson was a retired teacher in the public school system. She taught in Harnett County and Fairfax County, VA spending most of her career at Langley High School and was a PE Teacher, Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. At Langley High School the Jean Johnson Field Hockey Field was named in her honor. After retirement Miss Johnson retired to Lake Waccamaw where she was very active in many civic organizations. Miss Johnson was a member of Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church.
Surviving include many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 1:30PM-2:30PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson prior to the service and other times on the family farm on Elevation Road, Four Oaks.
