Melba A. Chandler

Benson, NC:  Mrs. Melba Adams Chandler, age 89, died Friday, April 27, 2018 in Raleigh. A Memorial Service will be 11:00AM Saturday, May 5th  at the Four Oaks United Methodist Church.  Rev. Joey Yow will officiate.             Mrs. Chandler was born July 16, 1928 in Warren County to the late Percy Elmond and Gladys Coats Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dixon Chandler, Sr., and a brother, Fleetwood Adams. Mrs. Chandler was a Registered Nurse for many years and started the nursing program at Johnston Technical Community College in 1970. She was also a member of the Four Oaks United Methodist Church.             Surviving relatives include children and spouses, Gay and Jim Miles of Morehead City, Bobby and Diana Chandler of Little River, SC, and Will and Susie Chandler of Benson; grandchildren, Ashley Fleetwood, Joshua Fleetwood, Katie Chandler Bradley, and Holly Chandler; great grandchildren, Lane and Lexi Chandler and Chandler and Colin Bradley; sisters, Marguritte Clifton of Benson and Sarah Russell of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends at Four Oaks United Methodist Church following the service.             In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC  27612 or to Four Oaks United Methodist Church, PO Box 177 , Four Oaks, NC 27524.
