Benson: Mr. Robert Sherrill McGee, age 80, and Mrs. Melba McLamb McGee, age 79, of 605 McGee Road died tragically in a automobile accident Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Johnson Memorial Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Searles and Rev. R. B. Parrish. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens, Dunn.
Mr. McGee was born February 14, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Alton and Floy Velma McGee. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James E. McGee and Elder Alton Derle McGee; and sister, Brenda McGee Taylor. Mr. McGee was a retired farmer, had retired from Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, and was a licensed taxidermist. He was also a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. McGee was born January 27, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Edward Anderson and Lattie Lee McLamb. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy McLamb, and a sister, Callie Sechman. Mrs. McGee was a homemaker and had retired from Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh. She was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Banner Post 109 Ladies' Auxiliary.
Surviving Mr. McGee are brothers and sisters, Annie Merle Hodges of Angier, Joyce M. Southerland of Wilson Mills, Alice M. Cox of Angier, Eugene Harold McGee of Benson, Mavis M. Johnson of Benson, and Kenneth Tearle McGee of Benson; and several nieces and nephews.
Surviving Mrs. McGee are brothers & sisters-in-law, Bobby & Rosalee McLamb, Junior & Dale McLamb, and Gerald & Judy McLamb, all of Four Oaks; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday.
