Naomi Johnson

November 13, 1925 — May 25, 2015

Garner, NC: Mrs. Naomi Whitman Johnson, age 89, of 119 Ferndale Drive went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2015.  Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Thursday at Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Garner.  Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Stephenson.  A graveside service will be 3:00PM Thursday at Bethsaida Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Benson.             Mrs. Johnson was born November 13, 1925 in Benson to the late Joe and Delcy Norris Whitman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Newton Johnson, three brothers, three sisters, and a granddaughter.  Mrs. Johnson worked at Rex Hospital from 1963 to 1965 as a nurse's aid, and later retired from N. C. State University Bindery in 1983.  She was a member of Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church.             Surviving are sons, George Brent Johnson and wife, Angela, of Garner, Joseph Ralph Johnson and wife, Shirley, of Bolivia, and Randy Ike Johnson and wife, Lecia, of Erwin; daughters, Barbara Jean Sumner and husband, Toby, of Dunn and Nancy Sue Donaldson and husband, Robert, of Garner; sister, Claudia Cannon of Durham; brothers, Woodrow Whitman of Benson and Sherwood Lee "Bill" Whitman of Kure Beach; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and special neighbors, Mike and Lori Spears.             The family will receive friends at Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church from 10:00AM to 10:45AM Thursday prior to the service.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transitions Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC  27607 or Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church, 1521 Vandora Springs Road, Garner, NC  27529.
