Neal Barnes

Mr. Neal Alexander Barnes, age 89, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC.  A Graveside Service will be held 3:00PM-Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC.  Rev. Fred Atkins will officiate.             Mr. Barnes was born on August 27, 1931 in Harnett County to the late Emery Everett and Minnie Fish Barnes.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmie Barnes and Larry Barnes.  Mr. Barnes owned and operated Neal A. Barnes Construction Company.  He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church and also served our country in the US Army.              Surviving include his wife of 69 years, Betty Willis Barnes, children, Rhonda Courtney and husband, Richard of Monroe, Laura Rose and husband, Rick of Clayton, and Steven Neal Barnes of Colonial Heights, Virginia; grandchildren, Patrick Renaldi, Bo Adkins, Samantha Bass, Ryan Denny and Paul Denny; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Scout, Jozy, Parker and Foster; several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC.             In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.  Masks are required for all services.                         The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.             Arrangements by Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC
