Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Norvelle "Lee" Wiggs Coats, age 84, of 302 W. Hatcher Street died Sunday at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday at Four Oaks United Methodist Church. Revs. Joey Yow and John Norman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Four Oaks City Cemetery.
Mrs. Coats was born November 8, 1929 in Johnston County to the late William Arthur & Sally Oliver Wiggs. She was preceded in death by brother, Elton "Toby" Wiggs. Mrs. Coats graduated from Princeton High School in 1947. After graduation, Mrs. Coats attended Atlantic Christian College from 1947-1948 where she was a cheerleader. One of her greatest achievements was that she made sure that her sons were educated. Mrs. Coats was a retired bank teller with First Citizens Bank and was a member of Four Oaks United Methodist Church.
Surviving are husband, Wilson L. Coats, Sr., sons & daughter-in-law, Jay & Cathy Whitley of Winston Salem and Scott Whitley of Four Oaks; two grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer Whitley & Dave Ward and Brandon & Rhiannon Whitley; three great-grandchildren, Carson Whitley, Owen Ward and Ethan Whitley; step-children, Alfred Coats of Benson, Wilson L. Coats, Jr. of Four Oaks and Tracy L. & Leigh Ann Coats of Clayton; seven step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
