Ollie Messer

Benson: Mr. Ollie James Messer, age 96, of 604 South Ryals Street died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. Graveside Funeral Service will be 2:00PM Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.  Rev. Randy Lucas will officiate. Mr. Messer was born January 3, 1916 in Harnett County to the late Oscar and Daisy Lucas Messer. He was also predeceased by son, William Alton Messer. Mr. Messer served in the U. S. Army during World War II.  He was at the Battle of the Bulge serving under General George Patten and received four Battle Stars and a Purple Heart.  Mr. Messer was a carpenter.  He is survived by wife of 63 years, Magdalene Stewart Messer; Granddaughter, Kayla Messer of Four Oaks; and Nieces and Nephews. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 12:30PM to 1:30PM prior to the service on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
