Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Pennie Parrish Massengill, age 86, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Benson. Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church, Four Oaks. Rev. Jerry Hicks will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Massengill was born August 30, 1926 in Johnston County to the late Edwin Stanton and Lela Benson Parrish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Elijah Massengill; and brothers, Otha Stanton Parrish, Edwin Seba Parrish, James Wade Parrish, Russell E. Parrish, Wilbert Chester Parrish, Lunda Lee Parrish, and Roy Young Parrish. She was a bookkeeper and secretary at Barnes & Lee Chevrolet in Benson and assisted her husband with the farming operations. Mrs. Massengill was a member of Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors are Sons & Daughters-in-law, Larry W. & Lena J. Massengill of Benson and W. Stanton & Pam G. Massengill of Four Oaks; Grandchildren & Spouses, Heather & Jimmy Clifton, Ryan & Christy Massengill, Thomas Massengill, Greg & Jessica Massengill, and Sarah Massengill; and Great Grandchildren, Hannah Massengill, Savanah Clifton, and Grayson Massengill.
Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, September 28, 2012, and other times at the home of Stanton & Pam Massengill, 7193 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks, NC.
