Phillip Louis Barnes

Coats, NC:  Mr. Phillip Louis Barnes, age 70, of 2938 NC Hwy 27 East passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home. A Graveside Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Coats City Cemetery.  Officiating will be Rev. Paul Cecil.           Mr. Barnes was born on January 18, 1950 in Harnett County to the late Junius and Lula Messer Barnes. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Barnes, Hershel Barnes, and Felton Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Coats High School Class of 1968. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Lillington and was a member of the Coats Methodist Church.             Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Carolyn D. Barnes of Coats; daughters, Angela Barnes Williams and husband, Scott of Salemburg, NC, Lori Beth Barnes of Coats; granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Williams; brother, Harold Barnes of Eastover; step-sister, Flora Weeks of Lillington; step-brother, Walter Lee Barnes of SC; several nieces and nephews.            The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other times at the home.            Mr. Barnes will lay in state 11:00AM to 5:00PM on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats.             Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the Coats United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 388 Coats, NC 27521.             Due to the current health concerns the family understands if you are not able to join them for the graveside service.
