Rachel Allen Ellis

Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Rachel Allen Ellis, age 93, of Pace Street passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Smithfield Manor. Graveside Funeral Service will be held-11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Hills of Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Redman. 

Mrs. Ellis was born on November 8, 1931 in Johnston County to the late Lonnie Eldridge and Media Dunn Allen. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Ellis; son, Michael Allen Ellis, Sr.; and nine brothers and sisters. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Ellis worked for Johnston County Industries over 20 years as a floor instructor and taught work and life skills to those with physical and mental disabilities. She was an excellent cook, a hard worker her whole life, and a great caregiver. She was proud of being both a cub scout leader and a lifelong member of Whitley Memorial Church of Smithfield. 

Survivors include her sons, Eddie Ellis and wife, Emily and Jimmy Ellis and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Eddie Ellis, Jr. and wife, Kimberly, Chris Ellis and wife, Connie, Jamilynne Stewart and husband, Wes, Rebecca Taylor, Amy Graham and husband, Rob, Stephanie Ellis, and Michael Allen Ellis, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Trey Ellis and Libby Erwin; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Hills of Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield.
