Ray Carol Coates

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Ray Carol Coates, age 63, of Lassiter Road passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hills of the Neuse Memorial Gardens in Smithfield. Officiating will be Rev. Jessie Brock.

Mr. Coates was born on December 25, 1959 in Wayne County to the late Raymond Alton and Shirley Stanley Coates. He owned and operated Ray’s Auto for over 30 years. During his years of owning the shop he would bring people home and help them make it to their final destinations. Mr. Coates had a giving heart and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lynn Coates; son, Alton Coates and special friend, Leah Kane of Four Oaks; sister, Theresa Beasley and husband, Randy of Benson, Linda Barksdale of Kansas, Frances Coates of Four Oaks; brother, Johnny Coates of Four Oaks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks.
