Benson, NC: Mrs. Rebecca “Becky” Sue Taylor Gibbs, age 77, of Hannah Creek Road went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Memorial Services will be 5:00PM – Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Pastor Samuel Hall.
Mrs. Gibbs was born on April 29, 1945 in Johnston County to the late Rev. Edward C. and Natalie Taylor. She was preceded in death by husband, Terry Joe Gibbs; granddaughters, Jenny Rebecca “Becca” Byrd and Melissa Sue Hudson. Mrs. Gibbs retired from the Physical Therapy Department at UNC Johnston Health Hospital in Smithfield.
Surviving include her children, Jennifer Sue Byrd of Dunn, Cynthia “Cindy” Owen and husband, Darrell of Mooresburg, TN, Willie M. Byrd, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Wendell, Joseph Gibbs and wife, Ginger of Fairview; brother, Edde Taylor and wife, Judy of Erwin; grandchildren, Susan Hudson (Jaysen), Sandra Baker (Tyler), Brandi Estes (Josh), Pearl Parker (Bobby Ray), David Byrd, Brian Byrd, Danny Byrd (Adrienne), Chris Byrd (Dixie), Andrew Byrd (Jessica), Aeris Gibbs, Atom Daly, Cheyenne Williams; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great- great grandson; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson immediately following the memorial service and other times at the home.
