Benson, NC: Rev. Henry Westbrook Lee, age 78, died Monday, December 1, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Benson United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Revs. Ron Patton, Tommy Smith, Bobby Smith, and Barry Barbour. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Rev. Lee was born October 7, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Alton Westbrook and Lena Ellis Lee. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Parrish Lee. Rev. Lee was a Methodist minister and served churches in Harrelsville, Dublin, Stedman, Kitrell, Wilmington, Garner, Durham, Angier, Benson and Four Oaks. After retirement, Rev. Lee served as a supply minister for numerous Methodist Churches. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109. Rev. Lee was a member of the Benson Kiwanis Club and was a past president.
Surviving are wife, JoAnne McEwen Lee; daughter, Sarah Catherine Lee of Benson; sisters & brother-in-law, Josephine McLamb of Newton Grove, Shelby J. Best of Clinton, Agnes Williams of Newton Grove, Maxine Lee of Clinton, Lena Mae Warren of Newton Grove, Diane & Layton Keene of Garner, and Darlene Jernigan of Benson; brother & sister-in-law, A. W. & Vickie Lee of Four Oaks; step children, Deborah Pittard of Lynchburg, VA, Sonia Mize of Atlanta, GA, and Ted Wallof of Redondo Beach, CA; 8 step grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, December 3, 2014, and other times at the home of Sarah Catherine Lee, 314 West Parrish Drive, Benson, NC.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
