Robert Parker

Benson, NC: Mr. Robert Preston Parker, age 87, of 130 Godwin Road died Monday, February 4, 2013, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.  Funeral Service will be 3:00PM Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel. Dr. Billy Cashwell will officiate.   Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.  Mr. Parker was born August 20, 1925 in Johnston County to the late Olen P. and Lela Kinsey Parker.  He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ronnie Hargis; sister, Margaret Paris; and brother, Linwood Parker.  He served in the U. S. Army and worked at Erwin Mills.  Mr. Parker was also a farmer.  Surviving include his wife, Mabel Benson Parker; Step-Daughters, Melody Stephenson and Margie McLamb, both of Benson; Step-Son, Kenneth Hargis and wife, Ann, of Angier; Sisters, Doris Langdon of Benson, Ruth Byrd of Angier, and Shelby Young of Benson; Brothers, C. L. Parker of Canton, NC, and Edward Parker of Benson; 4 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Rose & Graham in Benson and other times at the home of Melody Stephenson, 417 Aquilla Road, Benson, NC.
