Roger "R.G." Green Byrd, Jr.

Benson, NC:  Mr. Roger "R.G." Green Byrd, Jr., age 84, of 2844 Benson-Hardee Road died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Shaun Barbour. Burial will follow in Hodges Chapel PFWB Church Cemetery, Benson.             Mr. Byrd was born September 12, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Roger Green, Sr. and Lula McLamb Byrd. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter: Hannah Willis; and siblings: Olden Byrd, Reba Stewart, Edison Byrd, John Byrd, Annie Ruth Ennis, Ottis Byrd, Eloise Beasley, and Erma Byrd.  He was a retired commercial fisher and crabber.             Surviving include his Wife of 60 years: Martha S. Byrd; children: Debbie B. Finklestein (Johnny), and Kathy B. Willis (Danny) of Benson, Roger W. Byrd (Julie) of North Ft. Myers, FL, and Tammy B. Dorman (Dale) of Dunn; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister: Mary Weaver of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Danny and Kathy Willis, 2842 Benson-Hardee Road Benson, NC 27504.             Condolences may be sent to the family at www.roseandgraham.com.
