Rosalie "Rose" Johnson Buck

April 8, 1937 — February 17, 2019

Mrs. Rosalie (Rose) Johnson Watkins Buck, 81, of Benson, died February 17, after extensive health issues that began August 6, 2018. Mrs. Buck was born May 8, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Alton Perry Johnson and Maybelle Amanda Johnson. She graduated from Wilson's Mills High School where she was very active and held many accolades and honors.  She was involved with 4H, Youth and Journalism, held class offices of Secretary and President, a member of the women’s basketball team, received superlatives of Class Neatest and High School Favorite and was author of her Class Song.  Rose also earned the titles of Miss Johnston County and NCSU Homecoming Queen in her earlier years. She began an administrative career outside the home once her children were of school age and retired from NC State University. Prior to membership at Four Oaks United Methodist Church in 2000, Mrs. Buck was an active member of Oakland Presbyterian Church for many years where she sang in the adult choir, directed the Children’s Choir, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women’s Circle.     Mrs. Buck is survived by her husband, Albert Williamson Buck; two daughters, Amanda Watkins Myers Bellville and husband, Richard of Concord, and Susan Watkins Parrish Smith and husband, Mike of Four Oaks; two step-sons, Darryl Keith Buck and wife, Sheryl of Winston Salem and Larry Wayne Buck of High Point; grandchildren, Lauren Myers Hinson, Adam Parrish, Allie Parrish, Hunter Myers, Anna Smith, Fletcher Buck, Dalton Buck, Philip Buck, TJ Pinto and Dakota Buck, great-grandchildren, Mary Creighton Hinson, Madison Buck, Parker Buck, Salem Buck, Landon Pinto, Ryleigh Pinto, and Liam Buck; and brother, Wayne Johnson of Durham.  She was preceded in death by her son, Tracy Watkins and step-son, Russell Buck; her sisters, Billie Ann Frazier and Faye Watkins; and brother, Larry Johnson.  A Memorial Service will be held at Four Oaks United Methodist Church, 302 N. Church Street, Four Oaks, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:00pm.  The family will be in the church Fellowship Hall following the service for anyone wishing to visit. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Four Oaks United Methodist Church Building Fund.
