Rosalie Denning Stephenson

Benson, NC: Mrs. Rosalie Denning Stephenson, age 92, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021 at her residence. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM-Monday, December 6, 2021 at Benson United Methodist Church in Benson, NC. Rev. Billy Olsen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Denning Family Cemetery outside Benson, NC.

Mrs. Stephenson was born on March 13, 1929 in Johnston County, NC to the late Lonnie Pearson and Hattie Wood Denning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Norris Stephenson, brothers, L.M. Denning, Jerry W. Denning and Charles E. Denning and half siblings, Anna Ennis, Lillian Thornton, Christine Peedin, Ruth Burton, Bradley Denning, Roy Denning and Clyde Denning. Along side her husband, Mrs. Stephenson was the retired owner and operator of Stephenson Motor Company in Benson, NC. She was a member of Benson United Methodist Church in Benson, NC.

Surviving include her daughter, Dr. Sharon Stephenson and husband, Chuck Gordon of Oriental, NC; grandchildren, Charles Gordon and wife, Heather, and Mirra Gordon and husband, Francisco; great-grandchildren, Virginia, Caroline, Felix and Maddox; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery on Monday, December 6, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Benson United Methodist Church, PO Box 72, Benson, NC 27504.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Mrs. Stephenson’s caregivers for their love and care shown during the last several years while she remained at home.

In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings are not required, but are kindly recommended for all services.
