Roy Hilton Dunn

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Roy Hilton Dunn, age 87, of Old School Road passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the The Landings in Smithfield, NC surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks. Rev. Grace Hargis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Four Oaks City Cemetery in Four Oaks.

Mr. Dunn was born on August 11, 1935 in Johnston County, NC to the late Frady and Estelle Browning Dunn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ruth Dunn; brothers, Paul Dunn and Ervin Dunn; sister, Margie Dunn Lassiter. Mr. Dunn was educated at Four Oaks School. He was a member of First Advent Christian Church of Four Oaks where he served as deacon for over 20 years. He was Citizen of the Year with the Four Oaks Chamber of Commerce in 2008. Mr. Dunn was the former owner of Dunn’s Gas and Grocery for 49 years. Mr. Dunn served on the Board of Directors of Four Oaks Bank and Trust for many years. He was a pillar and supporter of the Four Oaks community, and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.    

Surviving include his wife, Kay Purvis Dunn; children, Mike Dunn and wife, Carmen of Four Oaks, Deborah Dunn Tueting and husband, Harry of Raleigh; step-son, Rodney Benson of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Scott Dunn and fiancé, Samantha Brown, Eddie Dunn and wife, Amber, Ross Elam and wife, Lucy, Alice Ann Elam, Jordan Benson and wife, Shelley, Lance Benson; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Wes Elam, Addie and Hayden Dunn; sisters and brothers, Carolyn Dunn of Wilmington, Ira Dunn and wife, Judy of Princeton, Ernie B. Dunn of Greenville, TN; Jean Dunn Edwards and husband, Wayne of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
