Benson, NC: Mr. Roy Wilson Tart, age 81, of 302 West Hale Street died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home. Officiating will be Revs. Glenn Fell and Ron Patton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Tart was born September 15, 1932 in Johnston County to the late Ira Benton and Hester Tart. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Lee Tart; sister, Louise T. McLamb; brothers, J. C. Tart, Sr., Jack Tart, and Junior Tart; and step-grandson, Bradley Pattison. Mr. Tart served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109. He was a retired owner & partner of Tart Brother’s Gas and Grocery. Mr. Tart was a member Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church, a member of the Masonic Relief Lodge #431 and was a Shriner.
Surviving are wife, Rachel Hall Tart; sister, Marguerite T. McLamb of Benson; step-children & spouses, Randy & Charlotte Lee, Steven & Melissa Smith, & Tammy & Greg Davis, all of Benson; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday, October 26, 2013.
