Dunn, NC – Rudolph Franklin Miller, 82, of Dunn, NC died July 16th, 2016. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM-Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Curtiss Tatum.
Mr. Miller was born in Harnett County on July 22nd, 1933, the youngest child of Beulah Mae Brown and Johnnie Albert Miller. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maude Miller Byrd, brother, Clemon Theron Miller, and sister, Doris Miller Ennis. Mr. Miller graduated from Coats School in 1952 where he was active in sports, making “All County” in basketball and football. He served in the US Army with the Field Artillery from 1953 to 1955. Mr. Miller rented his first land and began farming in 1959. He raised his family on the homeplace where he grew up himself being recognized as an Outstanding Farm Family in 1989. He enjoyed sharing his memories of playing basketball, football and being overseas in the Army. His later years were spent in assisting his grandsons in continuing the farming that he had begun. His knowledge, understanding and insight to life’s daily issues will be sorely missed.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Wood Miller; daughter, DeVora Miller; son, Rudolph Devon Miller and his wife, Michelle Miller, daughter, Doris Nighswonger and her husband, Christopher Nighswonger; and seven grandchildren: Malachi Nighswonger, Sarah Nighswonger, Gabrielle Miller, Benjamin Nighswonger, Matthew Miller, Michael Miller and Mercy Nighswonger; Many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday and other times at the home.
