Angier, NC: Mr. Rupert Lacy Johnson, age 88, passed away Tuesday at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab Center in Smithfield. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday at Providence Presbyterian Church in Angier. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Revs. Jim Davis and R. B. Parrish.
Mr. Johnson was born April 22, 1926 in Johnston County to the late Rufus M. & Corinna Hardee Johnson. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a recipient of both the Purple Heart & Bronze Star and a member of American Legion Banner Post 109. Mr. Johnson was a lifetime member of Providence Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities. He was also a retired farmer and sales manager with Case Blue Print & Supply Company of Raleigh.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-six years, Marilyn Mills Johnson; daughters & spouse, Lou Ann J. Buck of Raleigh; Peggy J. & Billy Barnhill of Angier; two grandchildren, Trevor M. Buck & Annie Lewis; sister, Evangeline J. Lee of Four Oaks; and brother, Braxton Johnson of Smthfield.
Family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
