Benson, NC: Mrs. Sallie Strickland Johnson, age 88, died on Thursday at the Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Pauline Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Dr. Robert Cooke will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born on February 8, 1928 in Johnston County to the late Robert and Mary Opheia Johnson Strickland. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dakota Johnson; brothers, Coleman Strickland, Bunk Strickland, Marvin Strickland, Jack Strickland, Delmer Strickland, and Bobby Strickland; sisters, Demer Grooms, and Annie Turnage. Mrs. Johnson was a cafeteria food service worker in the public school system for 16 years and a member of Pauline Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Hayes of Four Oaks; sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney S. and Susan Johnson of Raleigh and Jerry R. and Wanda Johnson of Benson; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home of Debbie Hayes.
