Sam Massengill Lunday, born on August 15, 1960, in Wake County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home in Winston-Salem on January 10, 2025. A devoted hairdresser, Sam was admired not only for his professional skills but also for his vibrant personality. He had a passion for life that was reflected in his love for travel, particularly to destinations where palm trees swayed in the breeze. Those who knew him well will remember his talents in the kitchen, where he often showcased his culinary prowess.
Sam’s appreciation for the small beauties in life served as a reminder to all around him to cherish everyday moments. His love for family and animals was profound; he carried these values closely, nurturing connections that brought warmth and joy to those fortunate enough to be part of his life.
He leaves behind his loving husband of eight years but together for 31 years, Woody Lunday, and his son, Dylan Lunday. Sam is also survived by his sister Jan Jeffreys and her husband Ronnie, along with a niece and nephew and several cousins who will hold dear the memories they shared.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roby Elwood Massengill and Martha Lee Wallace Massengill.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date by the family.
Sam will be greatly missed, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and appreciation for the beauty that life has to offer.
